OK, I know I've been gone forever and I come back all dominating the blog, but I was just reading the results of the diversity survey at my kid's preschool and I so have to share one of the answers to this question:

"2. How would you like to see diversity-related discussions addressed in our community, if at all? (e.g. parent education, classroom projects, blog, family events, reading materials about various diversities)?"

"I'm all for a a mad-max style thunderdome solution. Two parents enter, one parent leaves!"

*can't stop laughing*

Persimmon trees are crazy because just when the fruit is starting to get ripe the tree looses all its leaves and then it rains and what is left is a bare dark-wooded wet-ass tree with a bunch of big orange fruits on it. Cool. I am inappropriately impressed with myself for canning said fruits in some sort of mashed form. Who knows how solid they will be when the cans are opened in, like a month, when I get sick of the novelty of having an unopened can of something I canned sitting in the otherwise bare cupboards. Well, at least I won't be testing them for shelf life because my maiden voyage into the world of canning was, I'm sure, entirely un-sterile. I also put a bunch of persimmon slices in the dehydrator. There I am more certain to have a positive outcome. No way to mess up the glory of dried persimmons.

Truth be told, I am just so happy to have a minute to the computer. No one is using it to watch movies, trying to get to sleep. The couch-surfer who is perpetually in the room with it is off at a show. The little bean is with his mama. I have access!!!

I had plans tonight with a HOT HOT HOT cool smart sweet guy who rules in the sack. I was SOOOOO excited. Like Jr. High excited.

Plans were for tonight because the bean's mama is FINALLY taking him for more than an afternoon and I will be able to sleep until she brings him back tomorrow afternoon. This is only the second time I've had this kind of opportunity since he was born, and I don't see it happening again in the near future. So, my fucking luck, said amazing guy gets called into work and has to be there at 10pm.
