Hi guys--

I'm able to replicate some of the problems that y'all are seeing (only posts from tonight and 2004, inability to comment), but only when I'm logged out. Logged in, I see all your blog posts, but that's not unusal; I'm what's called the SuperUser--superpowers, I has dem. So don't worry; everything's still in the database. It's a permissions problem, I'm 99% sure. I'm told some software was installed today, and I'm trying to find out exactly what was done so I can troubleshoot.

Hang in there, and if you're experiencing troubles, please tell me here and I'll try to sort it out.

Hi there, rarely-heard-from techMama Lynn back again. The tech changes long needed at the Hipmama family of websites are finally finished. It should be much easier to keep up with things now, from my perspective anyway! The folks here are still working on the purty, but it looks a little better than it did! Thank you for your patience.

Sorry, kids, I'm working on the server troubles. I don't think it's the server itself; something we're running on the box is overwhelming MySQL, and I'm trying to figure out what. Please be patient. Thanks.

Hey folks, it's me the techMama again. We're having some funkiness in the back-end processes here that is making it hard for the entire box to run, so I'm going to be messing with stuff today. Bear with me.

ps: I also think I discovered why the site keeps going down/slowing up, and I think I fixed it. double yay!

Hipmama's provider is going to be doing some work behind the scenes tonight from 9 to 10 pm. Things should be down no more than a few minutes, but here's hoping everything goes according to plan. Just FYI.

THE BUDDY LIST
You guys are putting WAY too much emphasis on and thought into the buddy list. Granted I am a fringe member of your community--I exist here mostly to take care of the tech work--so I have but a fleeting understanding of history here, but sheesh!

Buddy list functionality is Drupal's way of allowing members of large, busy communities (like this one) to keep track of each other. With posts scrolling by so quickly, you might miss something from someone that means a lot to you. The buddy list makes it so that you don't miss one of those posts.

THAT'S ALL.

Any other meaning attached to the buddy list is something you guys are reading into it. It is a bookmarking tool. Nothing more. It says nothing about anything.

Hey folks--

Lynn here, your hipMama techMama. I'm about to start the upgrade process for hipMama. This means things will be wonky for a bit, "a bit" being possibly through Saturday, though I'm expecting less turbulence than that. I will let you know when is a good time to start submitting bug reports (hint: not yet ).

Why this needs to happen: The software running hipMama (Drupal) has gone through several updates since this site went live and we're woefully behind. Bee wants to add several new features and she can't until I update the underlying software. Things will work pretty much the way they do now, but things won't look exactly the same.

Hey mamas--

I'm the frumpy little elf behind the screen who keeps things running technically around here. I know we've had some slowness issues (every site on this server has had the same problem) and so I'm doing several things to help stabilize and speed things up. I'm hoping that these changes have already had an effect here; is it getting better or worse? I'm seeing things as better, but I want to know what you're seeing. Thanks.

The dns switch that made the beta site the actual "hipmama.com" caught me flat-footed and a buncha stuff broke. Sorry about that, guys. All is well now and if it isn't let me know.

Banners are now up. This is phpAdsNew, not Drupal. I've emailed Bee the acct info. For now it's running ME ALL THE TIME! BWHAHAHAHA!
